2010 Premiership Betting

The start of the 2010 Premiership season is just round the corner, with England’s finest having started getting down to business on the 14th of August. With the new season well underway, it’s time to have a look at what sort of value the UK’s top bookies are offering in the Premiership betting markets:

1. Outrights

Bets on the winner are where most of the betting action is going to be this season. Top two stalwarts Man United and Chelsea head the betting, but neither offers any value on the each-way bets punters will want to make to cash in on a place by their team. Where the value is at in this market is fairly clear – Arsenal is trading at 7/1 at many bookies, and a young, quality squad is going to give the likes of Man United and Chelsea some serious headaches this season.

2. Relegation

This is a market for the pessimists, and there’s some good value to be had on predicting which team is going to spend the 2011-12 season plying its trade in the Football Championship. Blackpool’s such an obvious pick for relegation that there’s no value on this team. Wolverhampton Wanderers looks a far better bet to take the plunge at Premiership odds of 2/1.

3. Top 4 Finish

Think Premier League Top 4 and you think Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal. Yet Tottenham Hotspur crashed this party in 2009-10, while Liverpool went into a tailspin down to 7th place. Will another club crash the party in 2010-11? Even if this does happen we don’t expect Liverpool to remain down and out, and expect the club to take its rightful place in the big four at odds of 7/4.

4. Top Scorer

Wayne Rooney almost blasted his way to the Golden Boot last season with 26 Premiership goals. Can the Ginger Haired Prince top the charts this season? Our answer is no. There’s are a couple of quality players banging on the door and offering far better odds – look to Tevez and Torres to score you a tidy profit on each-way bets.

5. Forecast

Think you know your football well enough to predict the final standings in the Premiership? Then don’t miss out on the forecast Premiership betting markets. Predict 1st and 2nd and you’re in for a big payout. We like the look of Arsenal/Man United and the juicy 15/2 Premiership odds offered on this forecast.
